Fall into Fashion

by Christine

The summer is quickly coming to a close and with it, the buzz of “Back to School” fashion is in the air. You don’t have to be a student to stock up on the hot new items this fall, just check your local department stores for their “Back to School” sales so you can shop and save! Here are the styles I am lusting over this fall:

Jewel-toned Velvet
Velvet is a great fall fabric, and looks amazing in jewel tones like deep purple, blue and gold. Pick out a velvet jacket or skirt to add to your wardrobe. I love this romantic blazer in Rainforest Green from J.Crew. It has such memorable details like the silk trim and grosgrain ribbon belt.

Oxford Shoes
Menswear inspired items mixed with feminine pieces is really hot right now. I love oxford shoes, especially when paired with a girly dress… [read more]

Cityslips Are the Must-Have Flat

by Sarah

I am not joking when I say EVERYONE needs this shoe, especially if you live in the city and are constantly running around from place to place.

I know my love for wearing heels has dwindled because I cannot walk around on Boston cobblestones and manage to look normal at the same time. My feet get caught, I am slow, I am sweating and trying to balance. CitySlips are the ANSWER to my prayers.

What are CitySlips you ask? Well, they are an adorable, padded pair of flats that fold into a cute cosmetic sized pouch. The main attraction is that this pouch unzips to transform into a bag to hold your heels when switching into your CitySlips.

Voila! Not only can I look cute while getting somewhere, I can tote along my favorite heels to switch into when I do. Why didn’t I… [read more]

Graphic T’s Are a Summer Must

by Sarah

Graphic T’s used to be seen on Dads with sayings like, “Bud Light or Coors “. Today, there are so many options for us girls out there. From celebrities to fashionistas everywhere, graphic T’s are universal and should be a staple for your wardrobe.

Whether going to lunch or a concert, a graphic T is your our go to item. You can easily shift one T shirt to wear several different ways by pairing it with different separates. Be creative and don’t think too much. By throwing a blazer over one, you instantly change the direction of your look. Add some skinny black jeans and chic accessories; you are on your way to rocker glam. Not in the mood for a night out, pair your T with a sweater and some sleek shorts with wedges for a stroll around town. For work, pair a more subdued… [read more]

Hip(ster) Replacement

by Val

There’s a little joke in Boston that goes: Why did the hipster cross the road? To get to the Other Side Café. Right? Wrong! The hipster crossed the road to check out your smashing indie-chic/hipster-inspired outfit. At the Other Side, a hip Newbury St spot to sip cold beers outside on summer nights, the staff is very chill and the crowd is usually hipster. Now, of course you can head there in whatever clothing you’d like, but why not wear an outfit that matches the scene? We all should live dangerously and the first step is wearing flannel while eating vegetarian bacon. Am I right?

For the look: Grab your favorite sleeveless little black dress and drape a flannel shirt across your shoulders – preppy style. There are different types of flannel: vintage flannel with faded colors has a wonderful authentic feel, but brand new flannel has… [read more]

Summer in Beantown

by Christine
Outfit name:
An afternoon in the Public Gardens
This outfit is perfect for Boston as the weather here has been very unpredictable. Recently it has been cold and rainy, yet I try to never let that ruin my style. For a quick lunch at Parrish Cafe on Boylston Street, I paired a cream tank with a light peach J.Crew cardigan and Lauren Conrad skinny jeans. Ray-Bans, and fabulous no-frills J.Crew gladiators finished my look. And just to be prepared, I brought along my Michael Kors trenchcoat.

Sunny Spring Accessories

by Christine

The trees in the Boston Common are blooming, which means spring is in full swing. And summer is just around the corner, so its time to check out my favorite spring and summer accessories—straw hats and sunglasses!

Spend the day reading on the Common under this Provence 12 hat

Shade the sun’s rays from your face by wearing a straw hat.  Choose from hot styles such as a fedora or floppy straw hat.   There’s also the classic Red Sox cap!

Check out the fruit at Haymarket with American Eagle’s Herringbone Fedora.

Big hats are not just for horse races.  Glam up a Sunday brunch at Stephanie’s on Newbury with an oversized hat by Jessica Simpson!

Perfect for any occasion in the sun

In vs. Out

by Sarah

IN: Denim – Denim has really made a huge impact this spring. Every color, fit, and style is available at a variety of prices. I am loving denim leggings because they are so comfortable yet look like a pair of skinny jeans. Try a denim shirt for something new and pair it with darker or lighter denim for that runway. H&M has “The Blues” promotion, with denim starting at $9.95.

Denim is a definitely a do...

OUT: Acid Washed Jeans – Yes, I just raved about the denim trend but there is one exception. Acid washed denim is tacky, and reminds me of jeans that I used to paint my bedroom in. I do not know how this look started but let’s finish it.

...but this look is over...

IN: Fuchsia and Pastels – We are going to be seeing more fun, bright makeup. Violet… [read more]
